A semi-autobiographical anti-war novel about the bombing of Dresden and the complexities of human suffering.
Tamler Sommers recommends it to explore the ambivalence of war and whether suffering is worth the outcome.
A speaker recommends a book written by someone else.
“You read Slaughterhouse-Five, Kurt Vonnegut talking about World War II. Of all the wars that America has fought, that's the one you could make the best case for. it being like a war that was worth all the suffering that it caused.”
Why: Read to explore the ambivalence of war and whether suffering is worth the outcome.
