About PodCited

Star ratings tell you how many people liked a book. They don't tell you why a thoughtful person keeps coming back to it. That reasoning is in long podcast conversations, where hosts and guests talk for hours about what they read.

PodCited collects those moments. Every quote on this site links to the second it was said, so you can hear it yourself.

How it works

  1. We transcribe episodes from a hand-picked list of long-form podcasts.
  2. An AI model reads each transcript and pulls out every book that is mentioned, the exact words used, and who said them.
  3. Each mention is sorted by what the speaker meant: a recommendation, a critique, an author talking about their own book, or a passing reference. Only recommendations and critiques count toward a book's standing.
  4. Timestamps are checked against the transcript, not taken from the model, and start a few seconds early so you hear the lead-in.
  5. Advertisements and lines a show repeats in every episode are left out.

What we get wrong

Transcripts mishear names, and the model sometimes misreads a speaker's intent or matches the wrong edition of a book. Every quote links to the original audio so you can judge for yourself.

How the site is paid for

Links to Amazon and Bookshop.org are affiliate links: if you buy through them, PodCited earns a small commission at no cost to you. As an Amazon Associate PodCited earns from qualifying purchases. Commissions never change which books appear or how they rank; that comes only from what was said on air.
